Week 4 post!!! Special Children, Special Needs

Children with disabilities.

So to start off with when i was reading chapter 6 i realized that i was looking in to my step-sons life who happens to have ADHD. I did not know that in the early before 1980 this condition was named hyperactive child syndrome they  happen to renamed it to Attention-Deficit Hyperactive disorder in the 1980.
Child who are diagnosed with ADHD are often hyperactive, inattention and impulsivity. My son experiences these symptoms on a daily bases it happens to be very hard for him to make friends to focus at school and even at home you can not just tell him once you have to tell him a million times (this is how it feels to me) he was at one point failing at school and was getting in a lot of trouble. My husband and I began to think it was our doing and that maybe we weren't putting in enough time with him with his school work. However that was not the case and we had to take action and help him to be the person that he could be and that was a bright and intelligent boy. We ended up going to a psychologist to get him help and they ended up putting him on Ritalin to help pay attention and to help him better in his school. This was the best thing for him he went from failing in school to exceeding. He has lots of friends and loves life he now only has to be told a couple of time to do something how. However not all children need to be medicated it can be controlled with diet and help.
